Newbie shopping round for insurance!

Post by martin111s » Sat Jan 12, 2019 2:22 pm

Hi all, you beautiful lotus lovers!

After a hiatus away from lotus ownership for far, far too long, I should be getting back in the saddle and on track shortly :Headbanger: :Headbanger:

Thought my first post back would be one that's been done to death :D

Basically, I need to sort out an annual Insurance policy plus 3/4/5 track days included. Any recommendations? (I think I was with Competition Car insurance over a decade ago  )

damn it, I've missed these emojis :Drunk: :Drunk: :Wild_Thang: :driving: :D :D

Hi Martin

Wow, a long time since you have been on here, great you are getting another Lotus soon :)

For insurance, try Matt at Henderson Taylor, he usually has good deals to offer.

Good luck and look forward to seeing pictures of the toy

Thanks for the recommendations gents, I’ll definitely give those 2 a call.

It’s been a while Dave, sold the 111s in 2010. Looking forward to getting on track again and seeing a few of you guys on the odd norlog meet :D :driving:

Welcome back :D

You can also try AIB, but Mary at REIS as mentioned - Flux also cover track days IIRC but not sure if Chris Knotts do - both competitive on price also.

Henderson's have been moving upwards in price last time I tried them, but still worth a shout.

Mannings were best for me recently and I'd been with Henderson Taylor for 5 or 6 years previously

Cheers guys :Friends:

Got a few quotes and REIS seem to be coming out on top for what I want. They've offered me windscreen cover (road only) at an extra £112pa. I remember with the elise I think the windscreen was a clam off job. What do you reckon? Is adding this to my cover worth the (approx. 15%) extra premium? It's a V6 exige BTW, picking it up on Friday, can't wait :Yahoo: :driving:

Not sure on the Exige but defo clam of job on the elise, I've had 3 🙄. Maybe worth getting a quote on a new screen fitted and then decide but I think I would have it just for peace of mind. Congratulations on the the purchase I hope to see it at one of the meets :Ok2:

Chris Neil’s are quoting £700 + VAT for replacement 🤔 Tough call, might just flip a coin 😁

Got her home late last night after picking her up from Will B and driving her the 180 miles back.

It’s been 9 years and I genuinely forgot how beautifully raw these cars are. Got in the Audi afterwards and it felt like driving a jelly on wheels.

She needs a good wash before I get some better photos but here’s one from the sales add:-

Cheers guys, hopefully see you all on a Norlog meet/run in the not too distant future (ie as soon as I can negotiate time away from the family :) )

Yes, the Hangar 111 upgrade. Apparently, I get a discount if I want to take it to 460 as well! :driving:
