Where to get a wheel bearing replaced?

Post by worldwidewebs » Mon Apr 04, 2016 6:59 pm

Need a new front wheel bearing as the Elise failed its MOT at the weekend. Ollie at Phoenix isn't available at the moment, Blink are booked up for a couple of months and Oakmere want £170 (yeah, I laughed too). Can anyone recommend a trusted place I can go to please? Preferably in the Northwich/Warrington/Knutsford area :)

If you have a S2, I think the bearing and hub come as one unit and cost just less than £100. Looking in the Lotus labor time manual, it will take less than 2hrs. If I'm correct...

It's an S1 Rich. Normally I'd do it myself but we've just moved and I don't have access to my tools and garage stuff (or a garage!)

I can get the bearing itself from Oakmere for £35

I needed one done last year and just took the hub and new bearing along to my local (Sale) 'normal car' garage I use quite a bit and gave them some beer and precise instructions (ali hub heat and cold etc) and they did it no hassle. Not too complicated a job for a normal garage.

There is an Elise specialist in Winsford.
Sorry. Cannot recall their name. a Norlog user must know it.

It's Blink, but they're busy for quite some time

Useful to know, thanks

Ended up getting it done by the place that did the MOT in the end. £66 plus the bearing (which I got from Oakmere), and that obviously included the MOT retest. Happy now :Horn:
