It's that time of year again

Post by nelly111s » Tue Apr 17, 2018 9:38 pm

Insurance Renewal!
Currently with Hastings Direct and the quote for renewal is £286. I'll used Confused etc due to the fact that the Elise is more of a mainstream car nowadays and get some fresh quotes. However, I'm also going to investigate insurance with track days included.

I'm going to ring REIS and Henderson Taylor.

Any other recommendations (with or without trackday) ?

I have both of mine with classic line insurance. The cover is excellent and includes breakdown cover as standard for Uk and Europe and guaranteed valuation. Track cover is optional.

As mentioned, Mary @ REIS, Matt @ Hendersons - but IIRC they only do cover including track days  You can try Chris Knott too they were always good for me, AIB is who I'm with atm, came in cheaper than REIS ( by about £60 ). Adrian Flux too were always competitive. Manning are another to try - my contact there has left though :( sorry.

They do have non track day policies, my last policy with them didn't have TD cover

Another non TD option is Principal Insurance, Lancaster. Very competitive for my all of our cars over the last couple of years

Having had to claim from Hastings and it being a particular painful experience dealing with them I'd strongly recommend renewing with a different company! Esure were the cheapest for me but I wanted track cover so went with REIS in the end.

Well, I rung round (and round and round) and couldn't get anything under £400 with any of the specialist brokers. Either too high mileage (6000 per year!) or the fact that I use it for commuting seem to be the factors. So despite Nathan's warning, I've gone with Hastings again, which was £310 all-in with breakdown, legal, protected NCD etc. Here's hoping for another no-claim year!

I'll have to investigate trackdays separately.
