Got the car. Over the moon with it.

Post by kennyh » Wed Feb 03, 2016 11:36 am

Picked it up yesterday and had a great drive home from Northwich. A big thanks to Tom and all the guys for the nice way they go about business.

Hope to now at last get to some Lotus meets after a few years without one. Have to say, driving through that heavy sleet shower was a pleasure, I'd have been crying my eyes out in the Caterham :P

Crap pic of it in the garage after the journey.

Cheers lads.

That's a great choice, well done! The perfect track/weekend hoon car I'd say. Hope to see it soon in the flesh.. (Sunday at the Whipping Stocks?)

Congrats, lovely car and sounds incredible

I've been looking at it every other day for the past few months on Pistonheads and was hoping to go down next month to finally have a test drive. Bugger!

Anyway, hope you enjoy it

Many thanks lads, appreciated. Yes it was at Oakmere last weekend, it was on the ramp waiting for it's first service.

Weird isn't it, I tried to buy private for 3 months then went to a dealer and bought that day.

Never even went to see a CUP.........just saw it and that was that.

Again cheers for that.

Yes that's the one, we usually go upto the cat an fiddle but it's temporary shut (hopefully) so we're muscling in on another lotus meet at the whipping stocks. Hope they don't mind to much

Many thanks lads, I'd like very much to get to Sunday's meeting then if this weather bucks up a bit, hasn't stopped chucking it down since I brought the thing home

Ha ha, yes one of the guys told me to join up here, I didn't know about it until recently.
Hopefully I'll get to know a few local owners and find out were the local meets are for a good few outings this year...SELOC is great but like the Caterham club everyone is darn sarf :Drink:

Kenny!!

I've just read the post and have to say the car looks awesome!! I've just bought a Daytona blue Elise S from CN and literally a week prior was toying with buying a green Cup S from down south but the wife got in the way!! Thoroughly looking forward to seeing it.

Congrats and enjoy!

Aha! So it's you who has bought that lovely blue Club Racer - I have checked out that car more than once and the colour really grew on me! I too have been sniffing around various Cups (Elise variant) but have hesitated to take the plunge when I've realised that for just a bit more I can have a V6 Exige. Made a couple of offers but the dealers just are NOT budging on price :(

Anyway, enjoy your new car :)

Haha, thanks Dunc, it's a joy but the only issue is that my old 1.6 club racer had a full sports decat 2bular exhaust so it sounded menacing to say the least! This is one sounds like a Prius in comparison so might have to do something about that soon.

I had the same thought re Cup, for a little more I could have been in a V6 Exige like you say, trouble is all the costs go up with Exige ownership.......I enjoy having the option of at least being able to get 30ish mpg. Not sure the Exige touches that in the real world...unless anyone can enlighten me??

So what are you driving now Dunc?

Hey Sam,
I've had a 111R Sports Racer (red) for 6 years, ready for a change but ordinary Elises look a bit boring in comparison :(
I hear what you're saying about running costs for the V6, I started a thread on seloc asking for real world information on mpg etc. Sadly I didn't get many informative replies! I reckon if you are thrashing the thing it will be pretty thirsty but I'm happy to bumble along for most of the time so i guess it would probably be mid 20s. You should be able to get mid 30s out of yours easy - at road legal pace :D

Still thinking about a Cup Elise as well, I've had an early sniff of one that might be coming up soon so maybe I will end up playing safe :)

I have the same engine in the Evora S. I bought it new last May and was getting 19.5 MPG urban without hammering it through the gears. Its now done 5300 miles and I get around 21.0 urban and 23 on longer runs. Its a big engine so you can expect big fuel costs. On track I was getting 9.5 MPG repeat 9.5 MPG. I use regular fuel. Have tried the other stuff but I can't detect any improvement in either performance of MPG. The Exige S is a lighter vehicle than mine and I know from experience it does go a bit quicker. There may be a slight improvement in MPG but don't hold your breath!

:driving: Dunc if you get a cup I need to see it !!

Andy I was told by a salesman...none Lotus specialist should i add, that the evora can get 40mpg. I was pretty shocked when I heard that.

Your reports seem far more real world. I will happily tell the wife that because she keeps meithering me for one but I love the elise/exige style and the idea of sub 20mpg hurts my feelings somewhat when pootling around town or even a long distance run. Who's the guy on here with the crazy looking Evora..I think his plate is 21cc or GG. Is that a custom kit or straight from factory?? It looks pretty evil!
