Poor turn out

Post by Boothy » Thu Jul 07, 2022 2:31 pm

Last nights norlog meet attracted four cars in total. One of those was a actually new member. I struggle to make it every month but for a July (all be it wet) that’s a dreadful turn out and I have never seen so few.
Sad times, it’s clear where the damage has come from but unless people back the meets I can’t see them carrying on.
That will be a shame personally as I have no real interest in going to meetings or events organised in the north west by other clubs.

It's a sign of the times I think sadly

Facebook has certainly killed this place, which is a shame.

I personally despise Faceache and actively avoid it so the only meet I know that runs regular and can actually make is the south meet which I try get to whenever I'm home.

Other than that I don't actually have a clue what's going on

I would mirror those comments Facebook kills everything and I will not use this totally unsecured and exploiting forum
( its killed the website and 'involvement' in a cycle club I am in for there are numerous selective Faceache groups - how does everybody else know there is a ride or met on .... unless you are a selective group member? )

I have not got a clue what is going on for it is extremely rare to see anything on the website

Kill Facebook, return to the web page and I am sure there will be more interest not only from members but also those who speculatively search for 'Lotus in the north west' - Lotus here must be dead for there have been no web page notices or postings for a long long time so I will search somewhere else.

Thats my comments on it

I think there is probably a case for both to run hand in hand, whilst I get the argument and Facebook is the devil a lot of people now look there first as they get everything in one place.
I think promoting norlog and meets across various groups is probably key.
It just surprises me a number of the old school members who used to attend every month never do now.

That was also a surprise for me once the Boatyard meet went. It used to be full car parks there with many other cars other than Lotus which was also a good thing I thought.

I miss the runs more than the meets to be honest, I know they are frowned on a bit these days but pick the right road at the right time of day and it is still epic. I do many on my own or with a good mate of mine very early on Sundays normally these days, the only time to get some real enjoyment

Im not a Lotus owner any more, and have nothing special to drive to meet other than a work pickup😢.
I am restoring a Stag which i hope to give me somthing more interesting to drive to a meet. I have noticed there are a couple of newer Classic car meets starting up , one in Lymm area and one near Alderley edge. Perhaps trying to tag onto one of these dates/ meets will snowball interest . ?
Still miss the Lotus though.

I’ll try doing some more cross posting with it and see if that helps. The boat yard was a good venue, the only issue was we ended up split over a few car parks. Sadly it’s no more 😢
We did a fish and chip run around this time this year, I’m shit at route planning but if anyone fancied helping on that front I’m not bad at banging drums
