Hi, newbie from Whaley Bridge, High Peak,

Currently on the look out for an Elise or a VX220 turbo, Would prefer and Elise i think but the turbo power has its apeals and also worried about the Rover engine in the Elise as I cant afford a Toyota engined one.

Noticed a few of you are fairly close to me, but cant say I have seen many around

seen a R reg S1 Elise in red a couple of times and had a good chat with him at the Car wash in Whaley, theres also a Red and cream special edition S1 elise in Buxton i see regularly.

Who do the local guy's use for servicing?

Cheers

Andy

Welcome to Norlog, hope you find the car you want soon.

Servicing wise it's Christopher Neil's in Northwich is the main dealer and Phoenix in Accrington the best known independent.

Welcome to Norlog Andy.

There's one or two on here had Head Gasket Failure, but most time's it's not serious. You can get insurance (via AA I think) for the first £500 of any job, which means that it only ends up costing £100 if you get HGF.

If you can, get to drive / pax in a VX and an Elise. You'll know which one you want then ;)

Cheers for the welcome guy's

Need to go and find a dealer that has an elise and drive one, been a passenger in a S2 Exige at the Nurburgring and the guy was chasing the Ring taxi so fair flying, had a big grin on my face.

What ever I get I want to use it as a bit of a promotional tool for the business :)

Need to sell the current toy first though LOL

Post by mattyb » Tue Jan 05, 2010 8:49 am

Well Hello everyone!!!!

Thought it was about time I grew up and left two wheels behind and stuck to 4, so I did the only sensible thing there was and bought an S2. :D

Look forward to seeing you about the Nantwich area as the weather gets better.

Hi Matt

How you doing? Welcome to the mad house.

There is a meet on the first wednesday of every month, although I don't think it will be that busy tomorrow as it is snowing pretty hard.

What bike did you have, or have you just kept it in the shed for summer?

Thanks for the Welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Used to ride an Aprilia RSVR, but wasn't using it enough so sold it last year.

Only managed to buy a std S2, couldn't afford the insurance on a 111, unfortunately, Bike no claims didn't count on a car and nor did company car useage. Glad I'm starting to get an older fart, will have to wait till we build up a little bit of no claims and then maybe when its time to upgrade you never know.

At the moment just looking forward to some weather that means I can get out and play. Oh and a little bit of modding, exhaust, induction kit, perhaps a 160 conversion later in the year ;)

See you a meet soon I hope

Cool, I love the Aprilia, that v-twin sounds great - I used to ride a SV650S also v-twin with a open blueflame can - only just sold that as well as not using it enough and find I am quicker in the lotus (I never really became one with the bike - scared of pain)

Enjoy your Lotus and take it easy as you get used to it.

Hey-up...

Post by Boost » Fri Feb 12, 2010 5:54 pm

Having shamelessly 'lurked' on this site for several months, I thought it was nigh-on well past the time i ought to get off my backside, break my posting duck and introduce myself. So, here goes...

...(Ahem)...I've owned a couple of Elise's, (or should that be 'Elise'?), in the past and when my last one went I never fully recovered! (There's something about the brand that's obviously got well and truly into my blood).

Anyway, as of next week, (hopefully), I'll be the very proud owner of a Type 25 Lotus Elise SC. I'll look forward to hopefully meeting you all at some of the local meets. It'll be great to meet some likeminded enthusiasts, (my mates just don't seem to 'get it'. Sigh!).

All the best folks and hope to see you soon...
