Information wanted please
Hi there, my name is Daniel. I'm in the process of getting my Toyota MR2 ready to sell and going to be buying a lotus Elise s1, hopefully a 111s and was wondering if anyone has any information on what to look out for and any recommendations on what is best to buy. If anyone is thinking of selling then please send me a private message. Thanks for any help given

Hi Daniel, welcome to norlog. Hope you find yourself a Lotus soon! Can't help on the S1 front I'm afraid as I only have experience with an S2 but I'm sure someone will be along soon with some helpful advice for you. Check out the Meets and Events for what's going on, you'll be welcome ...even without a Lotus!. John

Re: Information wanted please
hi Daniel
the most important thing to look out for is colour, only get a yellow one because all the other colours are just rubbish
but seriously the most important thing to look out for is chassis damage, take a good look around the suspension pickups for damage not that it cant be repaired but it can be expensive and not recommended by lotus but it has been done. then its a case of the usual things to look for on any car, if your handy with the spanners there isn't much you cant do yourself and parts arn't that expensive to come by. if your going for the s1 then its going to have a k-series engine so look out for any signs of headgasket failure or ask if its had one done, most probably have by now. ask what your going to use it for, as a weekend toy or a daily driver? if its for a daily driver you might want to consider and I hate saying this a s2 but if its for the weekend then the s1 is awesome very raw and great fun but not something I could live with everyday. as jono has said get yourself over to a meet and introduce yourself, not sure which would be closer for you the north meet or the south but were all very friendly and its a lot easier to go through things with you with a car there to show you what and where to look. also there is the chance to go for a passenger ride to see what you prefer. if you have any specific questions fire away somebody should be able to help you out.
happy hunting

Hi Buckley, thanks very much but I have my heart set on an s1.
Thanks very much John, are all the meets based in England? I'm just north of Glasgow so would be a fair way to get to.
Hi john, I'm going to be using it as a daily driver but I'm more than happy to deal with the more basic s1 as I'm hoping it will be a good investment too and I much prefer its looks.
